ECE Curriculum Committee Meeting Minutes for Oct 13, 2014

1. The meeting was called to order at 3 pm.
2. The minutes of the October 6, 2014 meeting were approved.
3. Jeff Erickson and Nitin Vaidya attended the meeting to discuss CS 374. Erickson described the content of the course in detail and explained the relationship to CS 373 and CS 473.  There were some questions from the committee regarding whether Computer Engineering students need such an extensive coverage of topics such as Turing machines, NP completeness, and undecidability. Erickson explained that there was some flexibility in the topics, and that in the initial semesters after cross-listing with ECE, one CS and one ECE instructor would co-teach the course to ensure that the topics covered were relevant to both CS and ECE students.
4. The meeting was adjourned at 3:50 PM.
