ECE Curriculum Committee Meeting Minutes for December 8, 2014

Present: Jont Allen, Michael  Bailey, Weng Chew, Alejandro Dominguez-Garcia, Peter Dragic, Bruce Hajek, Steve Levinson, Max Raginsky, Erhan Kudeki,  Chris Schmitz, Lara Waldrop, Hao Zhu.

1. The meeting was called to order at 3 pm.

2.  The minutes of the November 17, 2014 meeting were approved.

3.  The remainder of the meeting was devoted to a discussion of a proposal from Jont Allen, who attended the meeting, for the course: Fall 2015, ECE 298-JA, Adv. Eng Math & History.  

The unanimous sense of the committee was that the proposed course is worthwhile.  Also, the general sense of the committee is that Jont should be encouraged to continue developing the course and syllabus for approval in the early spring semester.   The revision should clarify what mathematical topics will be taught when in the course, have a trimmed list of topics, and include the midterm examinations.  It was recommended the prerequisites be reduced to what background the students will need; perhaps to AP credit for Calculus I&II. 

4.  The meeting was adjourned at 3:50 p.m.
