ECE Curriculum Committee Meeting Minutes for Feb 9, 2015

Present: Jont Allen, Michael  Bailey,  Weng Cho Chew, Peter Dragic, Kiruba Haran, Erhan Kudeki, Stephen Levinson, Yi Lu, Michael Oelze, Chris Schmitz,  Lav Varshney, Venu Veeravalli (chair), and John D'Angelo (Math).

1. The meeting was called to order at 3 pm.
2. The minutes of the Feb 2, 2015 meeting were approved.
3. There was a discussion of the new course proposal from Scott Carney for ECE 345, Design and Innovation. Scott attended the meeting to answer questions raised by the committee in the Feb 2 meeting. In particular, he described some of the projects that the students did in the 398 version of the course in Fall 2014, and his plans for increasing the enrollment. The committee voted unanimously to approve the course. 
4. The rest of the meeting was dedicated to a discussion of the course proposal from Jont Allen for ECE 298JA. Jont revised the course proposal and syllabus forms taking into consideration the comments of the CC in the Feb 2 meeting. While there were still some minor concerns regarding the content of the course and how it would fit into the ECE curriculum, the consensus of the committee was that we should offer the course. The committee voted unanimously to approve the course. 
5. The meeting was adjourned at 3:50 PM.
