IBM WCS Scholarship (Spring 2018)

IBM is generously providing one $1,500 scholarship.

There is a preference for students:

  • from traditionally underrepresented demographics in CS
  • who have leadership qualities



 Eligibility

Applicants should meet all of the following criteria:

  • Female Computer Science majors
  • WCS members
  • Current undergraduate or graduate students who will be continuing students in Fall 2017
  • 3.5+ GPA
 Submission Details (by TBD)

Required Materials:

  1. Your current CV/resume.
  2. WCS Essay. In an essay, not to exceed one page, please describe your participation in WCS. 
  3. Leadership Essay. In an essay, not to exceed one page, please discuss any leadership activities / positions you have held (not just positions in WCS). What were you able to accomplish? What challenges did you overcome? In your opinion, what qualities are essential for good leadership?
  4. Unofficial Transcript. Visit UI Integrate Self-Service and view Academic History.  Save as PDF, HTML, or Word doc.https://apps.uillinois.edu/selfservice/
  5. Release info. Does the department have your permission to release your CV and essays (1,2,3) to IBM?
  6. Publicity Info. If you are chosen as a winner, please indicate whether or not the department has permission to publicize it (on our website, alumni newsletter, etc.).

Materials should be submitted by 5:00PM on TBD to Samantha Hendon (2237 SC).
