TechnipFMC Educational Fund Fellowship (Spring 2019)

The University of Illinois' TechnipFMC Fellowships support masters- and doctoral-level students who are conducting research in areas related to the work of TechnipFMC Technologies, Inc. Targeted areas are Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Systems/Analytics, Electrical Engineering, Robotics/Mechatronics, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, and related areas of study. Preference will be given to students who have research interests in the areas of upstream oil and gas.

The spirit of the TechnipFMC Fellowship is to support the education of students at the University of Illinois who would be viable candidates for employment at TechnipFMC Technologies, Inc.

The TechnipFMC Educational Fund was established in 1963 by a donation to the University of Illinois Foundation of 15,000 shares of stock in the Link-Belt Company (later acquired by the FMC Corporation) by Bert A. Gayman, an Illinois alumnus.

Award Amount

Fellowships offer one year of support. Fellows in doctoral programs will receive a stipend of $25,000, and fellows in master's programs will receive $15,000. Fellows receive full waivers of tuition, service fee, health service fee, AFMFA fee, and library fee/ IT. Basic dental and vision insurance along with partial payment of the graduate student health insurance fee are also included. Note, however, that students in approved cost-recovery or self-supporting programs are not eligible to receive tuition or fee waivers. This means that students in these programs may apply but, if selected, will receive only the stipend portion of the award.

Students must be nominated by their department, and each department may submit up to six nominations.

Required Materials:

Student's current CV/resume.
Statement of Purpose (maximum three pages, double-spaced, with one-inch margins, 12 point font, and in Times New Roman). The Statement of Purpose should describe the student's research, including research question (and/or hypothesis or engineering goal), significance, methodology, and preliminary research (if applicable), along with language explaining the relationship of the student's research to the interests of TechnipFMC. The statement must be accessible to readers outside of the applicant's particular area of research.
Letters of Recommendation. Three letters of recommendation from faculty or professionals.
