Butterfly Dataset Locations
I figure over time each site can be classified with the data collected. Some are photos only, some are locations, some are distribution maps.

- Specimen Photos of different Families
This database contains 619 images of seven different classes of butterflies. The images are color JPEG, of variable resolution.

- Learning Models for Object Recognition from Natural Language Descriptions
- The aim of this research is to investigate the use of textual descriptions for learning visual object category recognition. More specifically, given a textual description describing the appearance of an object category, can we learn a model for this object category without using any training images? The work contributes primarily to the recognition of fine-grained object
- categories, such as animal and plant species, where it may be difficult to collect many images for training, but where textual descriptions are readily available, for example from online nature guides.

- Trends of Populations in Selected Butterfly Species
- These statistics on widespread butterflies on farmland and in woodland in England, contribute to a suite of indicators due to be updated later this year (Biodiversity 2020 indicators for England); earlier data availability allows their release ahead of that publication. The measures for butterflies on farmland and in woodland are multi-species indices compiled by Butterfly Conservation (BC) and the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) from data collated through the UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme (UKBMS) and the Wider Countryside Butterfly Survey (WCBS). The indicators use data from butterfly transect sites on farmland and in woodland from the UKBMS and additionally randomly selected farmland plots from the WCBS.

- United Kingdom Butterfly Monitoring Scheme - Species Trends 2012
- This dataset provides linear trends, over varying time periods, for the UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme (UKBMS) Collated Indices of individual butterfly species across the UK. The main statistical values derived from a linear regression (slope, standard error, P-value) are presented for the entire time series for each species (1976 to 2012), for the last 20 years, and for the last decade. In addition a trend class, based on slope direction and its significance, and a percentage change for that time period are provided to describe the statistical trends. These trend data are provided for 59 UK butterfly species. Trends across different time series allow us to determine the long and short-term trends for individual species. This is enables us to focus conservation and research and also to assess species responses to conservation already in place. The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) and Butterfly Conservation (BC) are responsible for the calculation and interpretation of this trend datasets. The collection of the underlying UKBMS data is reliant on a large volunteer community. The UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme is funded by a consortium of organisations led by the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC).

- Butterfly Distributions for Scotland from Butterfly Conservation and the Biological Records Centre
- Scottish butterfly distribution data from the Butterflies for the New Millennium (BNM) project, the national recording scheme for butterflies, run by Butterfly Conservation, in association with the Biological Records Centre (BRC). This data set consists of 400,000 distribution records of butterflies collected by volunteers. The data include records of all resident butterfly species plus three regular migrants (Clouded Yellow Colias croceus, Red Admiral Vanessa atalanta and Painted Lady V.cardui). Records were made from all terrestrial habitats and throughout the year.

- Vlinder Databank - Butterflies in Flanders and the Brussels Capital Region, Belgium
- Vlinderdatabank - Butterflies in Flanders and the Brussels Capital Region, Belgium is a species occurrence dataset published by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO) and described in Maes et al. 2016 (http://doi.org/10.3897/zookeys.585.8019). The dataset contains over 761.000 butterfly occurrences of 70 species, compiled by the INBO in cooperation with the Butterfly working group of Natuurpunt (Vlinderwerkgroep). The occurrences are georeferenced using the centroid of their respective 5 x 5 km² Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) grid cell and are derived from the database Vlinderdatabank at the INBO, which consists of (historical) collection and literature data (1830-2001), for which all butterfly specimens in institutional and available personal collections were digitized and all entomological and other relevant publications were checked for butterfly distribution data. It also contains observations and monitoring data for the period 1991-2014. The latter type were collected by a (small) butterfly monitoring network where butterflies were recorded using a standardized protocol. Together with the dataset Vanreusel et al. (2016, http://doi.org/10.15468/ezfbee), the dataset represents the most complete overview of butterflies in Flanders and the Brussels Capital Region (north Belgium).

- Final Critical Habitat for the Quino Checkerspot Butterfly (Euphydryas Editha Quino) within Jurisdiction of the Carlsbad Fish and Wildlife Office (CFWO)
- These data are intended to be used as a guide to identify the general areas where Final critical habitat for the Quino checkerspot butterfly (Euphydryas editha quino) occur. Specific identity of the Final critical habitat should be obtained from the text of the designation of Final critical habitat published in: Federal Register, June 17, 2009, Vol. 74, No. 115, pages 28776-28862.
