Spring 2025 Registration

Time Ticket
You can check your time ticket in Student Self-Service to find out when you can start registering. Your time ticket for both the Summer & Fall 2024 semesters should be the same.

Degree Audits
Please make sure you check your degree requirements on the ISE Pages (for Master's and PhD) and run a degree audit to check your degree progress so far!

Minimum Credit Hours
The Grainger College of Engineering has implemented a course load policy that will affect nearly all students (does not affect online MSIE students). Please make sure you’re signing up for the minimum credit hours required, based on the guidelines on the ISE Policies/Procedures Page. In general, you need to make sure you’re taking at least 9 credit hours during each fall & spring term. If you’re an international student without a TA appointment or ESL courses, you need to be signed up for at least 12 credit hours.

Holding Appointments/Tuition Assessment

  • Holding an appointment & registering
You must hold a 25-67% appointment (whether you’re domestic or international) for at least 91 days or a $5,000 or more Fellowship in the spring in order to receive the tuition and partial-fee waiver. We anticipate that all students will sign up for a full course load, which is defined as 12 hours by default. There are a few exceptions to signing up for 12 credit hours – please visit the ISE Policies/Procedures Page for more information on these exceptions.
  • Not holding an appointment & registering
You will be assessed tuition and fees. We anticipate that all students will sign up for a full course load, which is defined as 12 hours by default. There are a few other exceptions to signing up for 12 credit hours – please visit the ISE Policies/Procedures Page for more information on these exceptions.

Course Selection
We have recently added an ISE Graduate Course Spreadsheet to the Wiki pages. This is intended to make it easier for students to view relevant courses in their research discipline. Here are some links:

CITL Training for New Teaching Assistants

New Teaching Assistants must attend CITL’s pre-semester TA training unless the department offers its own training on substantively similar topics. The best time for a new TA to attend is just before their teaching responsibilities begin so they can immediately start to apply what they learn. TAs without classroom duties, such as graders, may instead attend the shorter Grading Symposium.

Grad Academy
Monday, August 19- Tuesday, August 20. Each student will participate in a Microteaching session on Wednesday, August 21-Thursday, August 22.

The Grad Academy page of the CITL website will be updated with more details once they are available.

If you have questions, please contact CITL at citl-info@illinois.edu.
