Minutes

  • The meeting was called to order at 3:05pm.
  • Minutes from March 13, 2017 and March 27, 2013 were approved.
  • The committee discussed a process for reviewing the course self-evaluations that have been submitted by instructors for courses taught in 2016.
    • A few of the core courses are still missing, and Kudeki will follow up with those instructors.
    • Each committee member will be assigned 3-4 evaluations to read to make sure that (a) the a-n criteria evaluations are supported by the narrative and (b) to bring to the committee's attention any strengths and/or challenges described. This task will be due in 2-3 weeks.
  • The committee discussed the evolving sub discipline descriptions. This is a continuing process, with areas involved in rewriting descriptions and selecting courses to highlight.
    • A question was raised (again) about how the faculty listed on each page are determined. Makela will look in to this. It was suggested that this could be tied to who has taught the courses listed on the page over the past X years (X to be determined). This presents an automated way to handle updating the page.
  • Kudeki brought up a concern raised by CE students who try to enroll in cross-listed ECE/CS courses "controlled" by CS. The registration process/priorities for "CS controlled" vs. "ECE controlled" courses are different. This can make registration difficult for ECE students. Lumetta pointed out that this question was raised several years back, and CS did not want to transfer these courses over to ECE.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 3:45pm.
