"The ASU-SFI partnership aims to deepen theoretical understanding of the interconnections between biological systems, like ecosystems, and social systems, like human cities. Sustainability is an area of particular focus, as are the dynamics of technical innovation in cities and evolutionary innovation in biology. As these fellows pursue fundamental understanding of how organisms, ecosystems, and human societies grow and innovate, they generate insights that can applied to complex challenges in a warming, urbanizing world." 
Fernbach Postdoctoral FellowLLNLApplication opens in 2021

A highly competitive postdoctoral position that is awarded to candidates with exceptional talent, scientific track records, and potential for significant achievements in computational mathematics, computer science, data science, and/or scientific computing. Fellows have the freedom to pursue their own research agenda under the guidance of a LLNL staff scientist who serves as a mentor. The fellows are expected to conduct their research in a collaborative, multidisciplinary manner with others in a team environment.

Harry S. Truman Fellowship in National Security Science and Engineering

Eligibility criteria include: the ability to obtain a DOE "Q" clearance; research in areas of interest to national security; the candidate must have been awarded a Ph.D. (minimum 3.5 undergraduate and 3.7 graduate GPA preferred) within the past 3 years at the time of application or will have completed all Ph.D. requirements by commencement of appointment (Oct. 2017); and, candidates seeking their first national laboratory appointment (pre postdoc internships excluded). Truman Fellowship candidates are expected to have solved a major scientific or engineering problem in their thesis work or will have provided a new approach or insight to a major problem, as evidenced by a recognized impact in their field.

$111,200 salary + benefits, 3 year appointment. 

Killam Postdoctoral FellowshipUniversity of British Columbia (Canada)11/13/2020

The UBC Killam Postdoctoral Research Fellowships are for Advanced Studies and are available for most fields of research. It was the donor's desire that those selected to receive fellowships: "be likely to contribute to the advancement of learning or to win distinction in a profession. A Killam scholar should not be a one-sided person... Special distinction of intellect should be founded upon sound character."

The number of new awards offered each year presently varies between three and five.

Lillian Gilbreth Postdoctoral FellowshipsPurdue Engineering12/4/2020

The goal of the Lillian Gilbreth Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at Purdue Engineering is to attract and prepare outstanding individuals with recently awarded PhDs for a career in engineering academia through interdisciplinary research, training, and professional development.

The Lillian Gilbreth Postdoctoral Fellows are selected not only for their outstanding scholarly achievements and proposed innovative interdisciplinary research but also for their potential for broader impact on industry and society. They undertake research with faculty mentors in different fields and participate in professional development activities tailored to their chosen path in academia.

Gilbreth Fellows are appointed for a two-year term, and receive an annual stipend of $60,000 and benefits. A $5,000 grant is also provided for professional development such as attending conferences or workshops and are mentored for their future academic careers through a variety of programs.

Linus Pauling Distinguished Postdoctoral FellowshipPNNL (Pacific Northwestern National Laboratories)Applications open soon

PNNL's Linus Pauling Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship is designed for the next generation of scientists and engineers who will push the boundaries of science to world-recognized discoveries.

Pauling Fellows will be encouraged through active mentoring by internationally recognized scientists and equipped with the resources to carry out a research program of their own design. They will learn cutting-edge approaches, utilize and build state-of-science capabilities, as well as contribute to research efforts that advance scientific frontiers and solve pressing challenges for the nation.

Includes full funding. As well as: a highly competitive salary, full medical/dental benefits, relocation, plus the availability of extra funding for travel and conferences. Selected candidates will be hired for a three-year maximum duration to complete their project.
Miller Research FellowshipUC Berkeley10/10/2020This is a competitive fellowship for basic science. A nomination letter is required by the faculty advisor in September (online nomination). It also requires a host at UC Berkeley be identified. The PhD must be confirmed prior to August 31, 2020. Three letters are required: one by the nominator and two others, one of whom must be a UC Berkeley faculty host. These are three-year fellowships, with annual stipends of $65,000 (and $10,000 in research funds).

University of Michigan Society of FellowsMichigan9/15/2020The Michigan Society of Fellows, under the auspices of the Rackham Graduate School, was established in 1970 with endowment grants from the Ford Foundation and the Horace H. and Mary Rackham Funds. Each year the Society selects outstanding applicants for appointment to three-year fellowships in the social, physical, and life sciences, the humanities, and in the professional schools.This is a three-year fellowship. Stipend: $60K, and includes teaching requirement (two terms over the three-year period).
