JP Morgan Chase WCS Scholarship (Fall 2017)

JP Morgan Chase, a leading global financial services firm, is generously providing two $2,500 scholarships for fall 2016.

Criteria - Applicants should meet all of the following:

  1. Female Computer Science majors;
  2. WCS members;
  3. Sophomores or juniors in Fall 2016;
  4. 3.0 or higher GPA.



 Submission Details (by TBD)

Required Materials:

  1. CV. Your current CV/resume.
  2. Essay, 1 to 1.5 single-spaced pages, responding to one of the following three topics:
    1. When designing technical solutions, describe the tradeoffs needed to be made between usability, security, and cost.
    2. Describe the key challenges facing the financial industry right now and how technology can help to transform financial institutions to overcome these challenges.
    3. Why is it important to close the gender gap in technology-related fields?  What can be done at both the academic corporate levels to close this gap?
  3. WCS Participation. In 1-2 paragraphs, please briefly describe your participation in WCS.
  4. Unofficial Transcript. Visit UI Integrate Self-Service and view Academic History.  Save as PDF, HTML, or Word doc.https://apps.uillinois.edu/selfservice/
  5. Release Info. Does the department have your permission to release your CV and essays (1,2,3) to JP Morgan Chase?
  6. Publicity Info. If you are chosen as a winner, please indicate whether or not the department has permission to publicize it (on our website, alumni newsletter, etc.).

Materials should be submitted by 5:00PM on TBD to Samantha Hendon (2237 SC).

Note: Electronic documents are preferred and should be submitted as PDFs, Word documents, or plain-text files. Students, please include your netid in your file names (e.g. netid_cv.pdf).
