Time and Place

Some time in the future, 3:00-4:00pm, https://illinois.zoom.us/j/112267137

New Business

  1. Virtual Instruction.  The Curriculum Committee has been asked to comment on: (1) grading formulas, (2) on-line cheating, (3) issues of students suffering from social isolation stress.

Grading formulas: (1) adjust the cutoffs, to compensate student stress? (2) shift some of the grade weight into a participation grade for the online interactions (or just watching the videos), to make sure that students are not tempted to stop participating entirely, (3) avoid making changes that may stress some students, such as shifting more weight onto completed portions of the class.

On-line cheating: "I had experience taking exams on Compass for <redacted>. Each was around 30 multiple-choice questions long and we were given 3 hours (which was more than enough time). When it came to cheating, It wasn't uncommon for students to take the exam together. In one case, a student would take screenshots of questions to send them to other students."
