- The minutes of the October 20, 2014 meeting were NOT approved, pending more informative minutes.
- The meeting was dedicated to a briefing about the new Innovation, Leadership, and Engineering Entrepreneurship Degree (ILEED), a dual bachelor degree that students in COE can receive. The briefing was given by folks from the Technology Entrepreneur Center: Andy Singer, Director and Prof. ECE, Jennifer Bechtel, Program Director, and Jed Taylor, Director of Operations. It was explained that the degree requires students to earn a BS degree in one of the traditional BS Engineering curricula at Illinois, plus take an additional 30 hours, per University rules for double majors. Half of those 30 hours can be for project oriented courses. Andy challenged the Curriculum Committee, along with the rest of the faculty in ECE, to think how our undergraduate students can best be served by the technical elective courses they take. What opportunities do they/should they have for creative innovation? He also challenged the committee to identify existing ECE courses, or to imagine creating new ECE courses, that could serve students from all curricula in Engineering, for ILEED course credit.
- The meeting was adjourned at 3:50 PM.
