David J. Kuck Outstanding M.S. Thesis Award:
This CS award was established by alumni, friends, and former students in recognition of Professor Emeritus David Kuck's intellectual and leadership contributions. Awards are based on the quality and impact of the M.S. thesis. This award is typically presented at next fall's CS @ ILLINOIS Alumni Awards Ceremony.
Eligibility:
CS @ ILLINOIS MS degrees conferred between October 2013 and September 2014.
Each advisor should nominate no more than one MS thesis.
By 5pm on 12/5/2014, the following materials should be submitted to Colin Robertson (colinr@illinois.edu, 2233 SC):
1) Nomination by thesis advisor. This must include:
a) Name, address, and phone number of the advisor;
b) Name, mailing address and email address of the candidate;
c) Title of thesis and date MS degree was conferred;
d) Suggested citation if the candidate is selected. This should be a concise statement (maximum of 25 words) describing the key technical or professional accomplishment for which the candidate merits this award;
e) Advisor's letter of recommendation, discussing the of the significance of the dissertation. This should be at a fairly high-level that will appeal to selection committee members who may not necessarily be familiar with the nominee's area.
2) A PDF version of the thesis.
3) Nominee's CV.
Note: Electronic documents are preferred and should be submitted as PDFs, Word documents, or plain-text files. Letters of recommendation should be sent from the letter writer directly to colinr@illinois.edu. Students, please include your netid in the filename(s) of any email attachments.
