Minutes

  • The meeting was called to order at 2:05pm.
  • A broad discussion ensued on the committee's impressions from the previous week's discussion with Dr. Laura Hahn and David Mussulman.
    • At what class size (or student-to-teacher ratio) are the various teaching techniques discussed (flipped classrooms, iClickers, etc) needed or beneficial?
    • In general, it was agreed that our department's culture favors moderately sized courses (100 students) and encourages the faculty to experiment with their teaching strategies, allowing for an evolution of the curriculum and instructional methodologies.
  • The committee considered the request to offer ECE 398 PCS: Design and Innovation in the fall semester, 2016.
    • A request to make the course permanent (ECE/TE 345) is with the College.  The committee considered the documentation for that request in lieu of documents specific to ECE 398 PCS.
    • The committee approved ECE 398PCS to be offered in the fall 2016 semester.
    • The committee approved that ECE 345 should be cross listed as ENG 345.
  • A suggestion was made that ECE 385 should become a prerequisite of ECE 445.
  • The meeting was adjourned at 2:51pm.
