University of Illinois' TechnipFMC Fellowships

The University of Illinois' TechnipFMC Fellowships support masters- and doctoral-level students who are conducting research in areas related to the work of TechnipFMC Technologies, Inc. Targeted areas are Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Systems/Analytics, Electrical Engineering, Robotics/Mechatronics, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and related areas of study. Preference will be given to students who have research interests in the areas of upstream oil and gas.

TechnipFMC (formally known as "FMC") is a leading global provider of technology solutions for the energy industry and has approximately 14,900 employees and operates 27 production facilities in 16 countries. TechnipFMC Technologies designs, manufactures and services technologically sophisticated systems and products such as subsea production and processing systems, surface wellhead systems, high pressure fluid control equipment, measurement solutions, and marine loading systems for the oil and gas industry. 

Award Amount

Fellowships offer one year of support.  Fellows in doctoral programs will receive a stipend of $25,000, and fellows in master's programs will receive $15,000.  Fellows receive full waivers of tuition, service fee, health service fee, AFMFA fee, and library fee/ IT.  Basic dental and vision insurance along with partial payment of the graduate student health insurance fee are also included. 

Required Application Materials:

  1. Nomination Form

  2. CV

  3. Statement of Purpose (maximum three pages, double-spaced, with one-inch margins, 12 point font, and in Times New Roman).  The Statement of Purpose should describe the student's research, including research question (and/or hypothesis or engineering goal), significance, methodology, and preliminary research (if applicable), along with language explaining the relationship of the student's research to the interests of TechnipFMC.  The statement must be accessible to readers outside of the applicant's particular area of research.

  4. Three Letters of Recommendation from faculty or professionals.

  5. Transcripts of all current and past degree programs (unofficial will suffice).
