ACM SIGHPC/Intel Computational & Data Science Fellowship (Spring 2018)

ACM SIGHPC and Intel have partnered to create Computational and Data Science Fellowships, a 5-year program to increase the diversity of students pursuing graduate degrees in data science and computational science. Specifically targeted at women or students from racial/ethnic backgrounds that have not traditionally participated in the computing field, the program is open to students pursuing degrees at institutions anywhere in the world.

  1. Student's CV.
  2. Student's statement. In 500 characters or less, discuss your "motivation for pursuing the degree." 
  3. Nomination submitted by the student's adviser explaining how the student qualifies for a fellowship.  There are three components:
    1. One page nomination statement in support of the candidate
    2. Explain why the program qualifies as “computational or data science,” as described by http://www.sighpc.org/fellowships (limit 300 characters)
    3. Identify the reasons why the candidate is appropriate for a fellowship “to promote diversity in computing” (limit 200 characters)
  4. Endorsement. Submitted by a current or former instructor, project supervisor, or employer who has personal knowledge of the student’s past accomplishments and can speak to the candidate’s suitabilityThis should be a "brief statement (limited to 1000 characters) indicating what he/she has personally observed in terms of the candidate’s abilities, self-motivation, and achievements."

In order to be considered as the single CS @ ILLINOIS nominee, materials should be submitted by 5:00PM on TBD to Samantha Hendon (2237 SC).

Note: Electronic documents are preferred and should be submitted as PDFs, Word documents, or plain-text files.  Please include your netid in the file name(s).
